A Villa Hills makeup artist, and the wife of a former Bengal, will serve 60 days in jail after pleading guilty to having sex with her teenage son’s 15-year-old friend in her home.

Jeni Lee Dinkel was formally sentenced to five years with five years probation (The News had already been published in fsiblog.com)

As part of the probation, she will serve the 60 days in the county jail. At her sentencing hearing Tuesday, Dinkel’s husband, Tom defended his wife, saying she is a mother who cares for her son, and that she simply used poor judgement. He spoke of their son’s cancer and her role as caretaker as a reason to spare his wife jail time. He said, “I don’t want to hear about a mother that doesn’t care about sons her son’s life or her family’s life. It’s the way of life for us right now that we go to sleep every night with a baby monitor on and listen to our kid moan and groan because the bone marrow in his body is regenerating and it causes pain for him.” The 15-year-old victim’s mother also spoke, saying Dinkel raped her son five times and that she will never be happy until her son is healed.

She also claimed Dinkel “messed with” her son’s mind by claiming she was pregnant. She said, “That Jeni Dinkel shows no remorse or accountability for her crimes. She knowingly and repeatedly broke the law and damaged my son.” “I am angry that even now Jeni Dinkel doesn’t believe that she’s done wrong or stolen his youth she does not see the sickness of her actions and I believe she would continue to rape again if given the opportunity.” Dinkel was supposed to be sentenced in July after agreeing to plead guilty.

But Judge Gregory Bartlett refused to sign off on that deal. She had the option to withdraw her guilty plea but chose not to. She will now wait until son’s radiation treatment for cancer is completed then she will go to jail. As part of Dinkel’s sentence she will also be forced to do community service working with underprivileged women. That stipulation got a nod of approval from the victim’s mother. Dinkel also must register as a sex offender for 20 years.

After the judge handed down his sentence in court Tuesday, Dinkel left the courtroom in tears. Her 60 days in jail is set to begin sometime in October.
